Rayquaza– The Sky High Pokémon.
Pokedex Number – 384
Type – Dragon/Flying
In Hoennian lore, there are few Pokémon as revered as Rayquaza. A colossal serpent Pokémon, Rayquaza’s status as a legendary Pokémon stems from the belief that should Groudon and Kyogre awaken, it and it alone is the only creature able to calm them successfully and thus averting the Armageddon to follow their battle. Yet despite its notoriety and almost saint-like mythological status, it is by far the most elusive of the three. With only one being believed to be still alive, the entry that follows contains speculative data, along with brief glimpses and information gathered from mythology.
Physiology – Like both its counterparts, Rayquaza is an ancient Pokémon, either believed to have been alive since the creation or evolution of the world, or dating several millions of years back at the very least. Whether or not you follow religious doctrine or scientific theory, it remains obvious that no other Pokémon bear a similar resemblance to Rayquaza in appearance, makeup or power, even in the already powerful Dragon-type species. It is not known how or what came before Pokémon such as these, but the answers must have surely been a spectacle.
In first description, Rayquaza resembles a great snake, of several dozen meters in length. Its sheer length and size allow it to coil, spring and lurch in the same manner as other serpentine Pokémon such as Dragonair and Arbok. However, Rayquaza has several features that date it back several million years. Along with smaller arms, with vicious hooking talons, Rayquaza has sections of its coiling boy that are covered in a thick, but supple armour. These sections are unique in that they not only protect the animal in various sections, but allow the ‘plates’ that line its body firm and in place, thickening the skin around where they join its body.
